Our Story

Back in the day, a dynamic duo by the names of Jim Griffin and his son, Ed, were the go-to guys at the Ford dealership’s auto body shop right here in Winnsboro. They were the ones who could work magic on those cars, turning dents and scratches into distant memories. But life took an unexpected turn when the dealership’s body shop had to close its doors, leaving Jim and Ed facing an uncertain future.

Now, picture a young and eager Ed, brimming with enthusiasm, turning to his dad with a wild idea. “Why don’t we start our own auto body business?” he proposed, determined to keep serving the community they loved and providing for their families. And just like that, fueled by determination and a pinch of audacity, they took the leap.

The year was 1989 when they kicked off their venture, setting up shop in a rented corner space at Elm and Main Street. It was a humble beginning, but their craftsmanship and dedication spoke volumes. As the years rolled by, their reputation grew, and in 1995, they upgraded to the sturdy establishment they now call home.

A true father-and-son partnership, Jim and Ed toiled side by side, their bond not only strengthening the business but also weaving tales of hard work and shared dreams. Fast forward to 2007, when Jim decided it was time to hang up his tools and embrace retirement. But this wasn’t the end of the road for the Griffin legacy.

Enter Crystal, Ed’s wife, who stepped right in and became the new co-captain of the ship. She took over Jim’s share of the business, infusing her own flair and passion into the mix. Alongside Ed, they sailed the ship through the ebb and flow of the auto industry, shaping it into a true family endeavor.

Speaking of family, Ed & Crystal have 5 children (2 girls and 3 boys) between them and 6, yes, 6 lively grandsons to keep them busy outside of work.  The Griffins are members of the Winnsboro Church of Christ and back in the day, Ed was highly involved in youth sports as his way to give back to the community.  Now that the kids are all grown, Ed & Crystal spend much of their time and resources helping clients muddle through the claims process that insurers make very difficult so their customers can get fully indemnified and so they can have an advocate on their side.  The Griffins are passionate about helping the consumer base understand how insurers can rob them of their rights if a consumer is not fully aware of their rights.  In order for an insurance company to gain, the consumers must lose…it’s a zero-sum game but with Griffin’s Paint and Body on your side, the game can change.

So there you have it—the Griffin story, a journey of wrenches and dreams, hard work and faith, all woven into the fabric of this community.
